Journey to Love: Mid-Way

For the past nine months, I have been working on writing the book, Journey to Love.
It’s about a young couple (Kirk and Julie) who find out what true love looks like. No, this is not a romance novel. Yes, it does have some romance in it. The reason is this: I see a huge selection of Christian romance novels on the market and they’re a big hit. The problem is that they go huge on romance, but barely mention God and Christianity. Romantic love is a wonderful, natural thing, but yet it is important to remember that it is so small compared to the kind of love it symbolizes.

As mentioned in the Bible, the love between a man and women is symbolic of the love between Christ and the church (Ephesians 5). So if the couple doesn’t really know God’s love, they won’t know how to truly love each other in a way that lasts forever. When a couple loves God with all their heart and put him before each other, the result is beautiful! That’s what this book is about. I’m not going to say anymore because I don’t want to spoil the story! 😉

Currently, I’m battling writer’s block like crazy. I have the plot planned out, but it seems like inspiration for me has extreme highs and lows. I know this slump will pass in due time and I’ll be back to writing like there’s no time left!

One thing I’ve learned is that it can take a lot longer to write something than you thought or planned. (That has certainly happened with writing blog posts!) But despite that, I’m still hoping that Journey to Love will be published next year.

I hope to keep you updated. Until then, please pray that God might guide my fingers to write the words that need to be said and not shy away from difficult things.
