Hey ladies! It seems that we are always on the look out for quick easy ways to get trimmer and healthier. I’m not a feminist, but I do think that we tend towards eating healthy more than guys – just sayin’ 😉 (Let me clarify that I’m aware of the many male health and fitness gurus out there…) Whether you’re looking for a slimmer waist line, toned muscle, or having better overall health, hopefully these tips will help you out.
I don’t care what you stick in your mouth, if you are sitting around on your couch 24/7 you will have a very difficult time trying to slim down. Even light exercise will go a long way. Try taking a walk several times a week. If you’re ambitious, gradually transition into a short run at least 2-3x a week.
Other exercises are great and you can do many right in your own home with no equipment. Crunches, squats, and planks, are all ones that I love and definitely work for me. Listen to your body and figure out what works best for you (I think this will be a recurring theme in this post 😉 ). Create a simple routine and stick to it. Don’t build too high goals and expectations from the start or you will quickly burn out. Go slow and steady.
Tip: Get a fitness buddy. This may be a friend, sibling, or spouse. Having a partner is so fun and much more inspiring than doing it by yourself! I love running with my sister – it’s the perfect time for those heart to heart chats about anything and everything. 🙂
You are what you eat. That’s that. I would also add, you are what you drink, as well. Obviously cutting out the junk from your diet is going to go a long way. Including lots of organic vegetables, fruit, greens, eggs, nuts, and meat to your diet is the best place to start. Don’t be afraid to listen to your body and adjust the levels of the ingredients accordingly. What is best for one person is going to be different for another. Drinking lots of pure water will also help you stay hydrated, clear out toxins, and keep you feeling fresh and energized.
Early morning smoothies are a great way to kick-start your day and get a large dose of healthy nutrients. (Hint: I’m going to be sharing my own favorite smoothies and beverage creations that are perfect for spring and summer in a near future post! )
Under-performing digestion can be a big problem for a lot of people and woman are certainly not an exception. Poor digestion an cause all kinds of issues like skin breakouts, constipation, reoccurring indigestion/heartburn, and even cause infections within the body. So not only is it uncomfortable, it has some pretty hefty side affects. Looking at what the cause is is the best place to start. It may be not enough water intake, too much processed foods that are hard to digest, etc.
To keep things running smoothly, make sure you have plenty of fiber in your diet (something white flour greatly lacks), take a good probiotic daily (or simply incorporate cultured foods such as yogurt into your diet), and drink approximately 8 glasses of water depending on your weight and size. On that note, be conscious of when you drink water. Drinking a lot right before and during a meal is not a good idea as it can cause quite the disturbance in the digestive process. Moderation then is key.
Herbs are an amazing way to pack a punch into your daily routine. Certain ones are especially good. The ones I’ve listed specifically pertain to feminine health, but I will say that many other herbs that help other parts of the body will in someway have an affect too. The body isn’t sectioned off. Everything works together, so if one thing is affected, something else will be too.
Dandelion root taken right before a meal is an awesome way to give your digestive juices a kick-start. I love drinking Dandy Blend before supper. It is so tasty, hot or cold, and has lots of dandelion in it, making for an amazing meal experience. It most certainly has worked wonders for me and I no longer have to worry about going to bed on a full stomach because things are running so slow. It’s worth every penny.
Giving your innards a little pampering will help keep your skin clearer and organs running smoothly. And besides, it’s a lot of fun! 😉
Try out some things and see how it goes. I would love if you’d take a snippet of time to tell me what works best for you!
