Quote of the Week | #1

Quotes are popular, inspiration is popular, and there is certainly a reason for both! Psychology says that just by smiling, you will instantly feel a little better. I’ve even tried it to alleviate pain and it works ways faster than any medication! Inspirational quotes come in somewhere close to the smile. There are sooo many quotes out there, lists and lists of them. Not all of them are awesome, so I thought it’d be great to pick out the best ones and lighten up your heavy daily loads with a weekly quote – the ones that are like gold nuggets of inspiration and cheer!

21 Ways to Stay Positive

Staying positive and feeling happy from the inside out is something that is hard to come by when we feel bored, lifeless, rejected, passionless, and the list goes on and on. You get the idea. Every day brings it’s craziness and trials and troubles. That’s a taste of life. But we don’t have to live in this zombie-like state. It is totally possibleĀ  to live a powerful and meaningful life. The greatest joy you can ever have in life, is when Jesus is living in you and his love just wells up within and comes out in the most beautiful ways. Jesus is beautiful and makes you beautiful. He brings healing to the most intimate parts of your soul. That’s why it’s possible to be happy even in the worst circumstances (Believe me, I’ve almost tried it. šŸ˜‰ ).

With Jesus living within us, we still have “those moments”. We’re human and completely capable of feeling grumpy and sad all over again. Circumstances can be overwhelming and it’s okay to cry. The best way to overcome pain, sadness, boredom or whatever have you, is to remind ourselves of what is the most important thing in life:

We live inĀ  freedom from the bondage of sin and death; free to live in the deepest and clearest love imaginable – Jesus’ love. Continue reading “21 Ways to Stay Positive”

Survey: Music in the Modern Christian World

Hey y’all! I’ve organized a survey all about music in today’s Christian circles. As a passionate musician and Christian, I thought it’d be good to find out what music Christians are listening to, and how it affects them and their Church. It is open to anyone in any denomination or nondenominational, Conservative, Liberal, or “other”.

I’m hoping for at least 100 participants to make the survey more accurate, so please share with your friends and on social media! The more the merrier! šŸ™‚

I will be posting the results here on the blog (and linking on social media). So stay tuned! Continue reading “Survey: Music in the Modern Christian World”

A Letter From My Father

Dear child,

You are not alone. Sometimes it may feel that way, but I will always be there to forgive, comfort, and heal you. It breaks my heart to see your pain, but I can’t take it away until you give it up. As long as you hold onto your heart, your life will be out of control. If you trust your life to me, your life will become a beautiful work of love; woven perfectly by my hands.

I have seen your fear; your worry that you will miss open doors or open ones that aren’t meant for you. Leave that to me.Ā  All the doors that aren’t for you, are firmly locked and bolted.Ā  My timing is perfect. You will not accidentally mess up my will for you.

I give you the choice to hand the key of your heart to me. I promise to always protect and cherish you. In me, you will always find the love you long for. In me, there is always true peace and freedom.

With Love,

Your Heavenly Father

The One Word of Kindness Challenge

I’m not the person to go around chewing on people. When I hurt other people, I feel it. But sometimes what stings more that a harsh word is silence. People begin to wonder if you think that they or what they do is boring, not good enough, or silly. I’ve certainly been in that spot. That feeling that no matter what I did, it went unnoticed. We’ve all been there at some point. And all we wanted was a word of encouragement, affirmation, or just a kind word that told us that we were thought of.

The One Word of Kindness Challenge

Okay, so since we all understand the feeling of being alone, hurt, or mistrusted, let’s turn that around. We can’t really change what other people say to us, but we can change what we say to others. Each word we speak is our own choice. Continue reading “The One Word of Kindness Challenge”

Something to Live By

I love my new studio. I plan to do a whole introductory post of the LoveNotes Studio of Fine Arts sometime soon. It’s a little log building under persimmon trees (yum!). We began building it in 2012, but didn’t finish until this year. I’m so superĀ  excited to be using it for all my school, music study, artwork, and blogging. It is theĀ  place where my mind runs free. It is my own spot and I love it.

All my favorite decorations reside there including a frame which contains the words below. It hangs above my desk and is an inspiring reminder for me every time I go in there.

New Song: God’s Hurting Child

We have heard of God as a Father and we as his children (the “sons of God”). How often do we think of it in that way in our hearts? Many know a Father as someone who doesn’t particularly care about them and perhaps is even angry and abusive. They don’t know what the real love of a dad can look like. When it comes to God, they don’t understand how he could be so good and be like a father.

But God really does show us what fathers should be like. In a fallen, broken, and imperfect world, we feel alone and sometimes hurt. In our brokenness we may lash out at God. But He isn’t standing there indifferently. He’s waiting with outstretched hands, waiting for us to come to him, to want him, and ask him to forgive us. My dear friend, he will forgive you and give you the most amazing peace and joy you’ve ever experienced; strength to conquer the trials in life. Continue reading “New Song: God’s Hurting Child”

The Face Smacking Truth About Life

Ever since the day I finally gave up, I’ve been living a little differently than before. In that the truth has truly set me free. But I’ve been trying to figure out the balance of what is living for myself, and what is living for God? Or, is there supposed to be a balance?

I’ve put a great deal of thought into it in the last while. How can I live to the fullest of myself for God?

Of course, God wasn’t hanging around laughing at my confusion. As a fact he plopped this bit of advice in my Google+ feed recently. Actually, it is part of a whole post, but this is the part that jumped out and hit me in the face.

Unashamed to Speak

I’m going to be bluntly honest: being a blogger can be difficult at times. There’s the temptation to ignore things God has laid on my heart to share that I know might not go over well with some people. I might get better stats on my blog if I do things my own way and avoid certain subjects. But really, what is the purpose of this blog? To give you all the same things that you’ve already heard a million times? No. The true purpose is to encourage and enlighten those who visit and help them gain a closer walk with Jesus as well as being my creative outlet.

For all Christians, there’s the temptation to share with the rest of society only the things that people want to hear. In a lot of cases, difficult topics are largely ignored. We don’t like getting our toes wet so we side-step the puddle. Are we ashamed to speak the truth? If so, what does that say about our walk with the Lord? Continue reading “Unashamed to Speak”
