Dear Younger Self – A Letter to the Girl I Used to be

Hey y’all! I’m back after way too long. I’ve missed talking to you guys. This summer has been crazy but I’m finally learning how to bring some sort of balance to the craziness and squeeze in some time to chat with y’all. I finished school and started working full time. Probably enough explanation. I suppose it’s something a lot of high school grads have to figure out when they enter the workforce. ๐Ÿ™‚

Today is kinda different cause I really wanted to write a note to my younger self. If you have a younger person(s) in your life (which I’m sure you do), make sure to take a minute to encourage them, inspire them, tell them the truth about themselves. You don’t know how much that can impact a young mind – world changing!

**Above: one of my senior pictures. That’s the girl who’s talking. **

I finally got to tell the younger me what I always wished someone would have. Writing it all down was somehow incredibly healing. Almost like I was able to go back in time and give that girl the advice and encouragement she really really wanted. It meant so much to be able to be that person. Yeah, it sounds weird, but that’s okay. ๐Ÿ˜€ Continue reading “Dear Younger Self – A Letter to the Girl I Used to be”

20 Empowering Verses for Your Quiet Time

Being in need of fresh inspiration is no new problem. Quiet time in the word with Jesus can be such an incredible time. Yet, every once in a while (and a few times in between! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ), thoughts and emotions become too overwhelming or simply more appealing than concentrating on what you’re reading. We all know that moment when we suddenly realize we have no idea what we just read (#allthetime).

I’ve pulled together some amazing verses for you to help you refocus your mind, rejuvenate your soul, and empower you for your day. Don’t forget that prayer is also a powerful thing. It’s not just talking; it’s conversing with God! How beautiful is that? ๐Ÿ™‚ Continue reading “20 Empowering Verses for Your Quiet Time”

How to Deal With Wanting Acceptance | Vibrant Womanhood

technology-3164715_1920

Welcome back to another Bible study, my lovelies. I’m so delighted to see you! Grab your favorite cup of tea (or coffee), curl up in a cozy chair and join the circle of Vibrant Womanhood. Okay, so now that we’re past that stuff, let’s get to the goodies!

One of the Most Basic Things

I’d say the most sought after thing throughout time and history is the longing to be loved. It is an innate desire that each one of has within us from the day we are born whether or not we have even thought about it! From that most certainly comes the desire to be accepted. It’s perfectly natural and nothing to be ashamed of. We like to be liked (introverts too! ๐Ÿ™‚ ).

There are a lot of times throughout our days when we may feel alone, like no one cares, or don’t think we have any friends. Sometimes in pursuing God, we lose everything when others don’t understand. We all make sacrifices. “Do people think that’s weird?” “What do they think of that?” I’ve asked myself that a thousand times, wondering if those I know really think good of me. You probably have too. It’s a quite natural thing and the dooming fear of not being liked can be a quite annoying little devil.

Does it Really Matter?

Are these desires good, or are they some more of those evil desires that we are born with and can’t seem to conquer? Actually, I’d dare to say that the answer to both would be, “yes”.

God is love. It’s that simple. We long for him which also means longing for his love. We need to love and to be loved. It is so important. Where the “evil little monster” comes into the picture, is when we cause this to consume our thoughts and minds and become self-centered people who think we have to be noticed and deserve to be loved. None of us deserve it, but we desperately need it.

When You Feel That No One Accepts You. When You Think That No One is There For You.

First of all, let me kindly remind you that you are never alone. No matter how alone you are physically, Jesus is always there for you. He is still there even when He is silent. He loves each of us even before we love Him and when we love Him back! That’s amazing.

“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.”ย  (John 15:9)

When there truly is no one around you that cares, that may be a strong sign that it is time to move on. Time to let go of what you know and surround yourself with people that will uplift you, encourage you, and be there for you. This may be moving to a different part of the planet, but it also may mean just opening your eyes to the opportunities that are right around you. Jesus doesn’t want you to feel depressed. He wants you to be free as a bird. And that’s exactly what he’s fixing to do.

You don’t always feel that God is right there in the room, and that’s okay. Just know that He is anyway whether he’s talking or moving or sitting silent while you prepare to go answer the door. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Let’s Sum This Up

I’ve struggled with the fear of what “others think” for years. It has kept me up at night as my mind replays slightly embarrassing incidents (why do those moments plague me forever? ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). I would lay there and pray that that person (or persons) wasn’t weirded out. I hated this and wished I could just change myself to be like everyone else. (They didn’t do anything embarrassing – ahem- cough- they probably thought they did!). In the end, God is good and looking back I know for a fact that those things actually pushed me to achieve greater heights in my passions and I’m better off for it. Nonetheless, I would love not to have to struggle to get there. ๐Ÿ˜‰

When we’re not accepted for doing a certain thing or believing certain things, or just being, that hurts. Let’s be real. I can’t change the next person (annoyingly enough! ) and it’s a good thing or it’d mean they had the power to change me.

I’m not going to tell you to ignore the pain and I’m definitely not going to tell you to “just get over it”. That’s nearly impossible and doesn’t help a thing. You can pray for that person, give them a smile or a hug, or whatever you know you can do. Be Jesus to them in whatever way you can. If they don’t seem to notice the effort, that’s okay. It doesn’t mean that it was useless. If nothing else, it can help us heal to do something sweet for a person who is sour.

And if you ever need a listening ear to rant, cry, or just talk random heart things to, shoot me an e-mail. I’m here, and I know many other women of the faith that would always accept you no matter what you’re like. That’s the beauty of what Jesus does. It’s not just you and me – it’s all of us! We’re here together in spirit, connected by the unity of God, family always and forever!

Have a beautiful rest of your week!

xoxo

Finding the Strength to Endure Anything| Vibrant Womanhood

All right, let’s get on with today’s study, shall we?

Vibrant Womanhood Bible Study

I’m still figuring out the life God has called me to. Not because I don’t have vision or focus, but because each day has it’s own little twists and turns. Opportunities appear out of nowhere and others disappear just as fast. So in other words, it’s important to take each step one at a time and not try to bite onto more than God is giving us. Yeah, I’m one of those guilty parties!

I just love having everything figured out. Literally months and years all planned out exactly what I’m going to do and where I’m going to be. And while some of it certainly works out, more often than not, a curve ball comes my way and I’m left standing there wandering what on earth is going to happen next. It keeps life interesting! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Continue reading “Finding the Strength to Endure Anything| Vibrant Womanhood”

Quote of the Week | #1

Quotes are popular, inspiration is popular, and there is certainly a reason for both! Psychology says that just by smiling, you will instantly feel a little better. I’ve even tried it to alleviate pain and it works ways faster than any medication! Inspirational quotes come in somewhere close to the smile. There are sooo many quotes out there, lists and lists of them. Not all of them are awesome, so I thought it’d be great to pick out the best ones and lighten up your heavy daily loads with a weekly quote – the ones that are like gold nuggets of inspiration and cheer!

21 Ways to Stay Positive

Staying positive and feeling happy from the inside out is something that is hard to come by when we feel bored, lifeless, rejected, passionless, and the list goes on and on. You get the idea. Every day brings it’s craziness and trials and troubles. That’s a taste of life. But we don’t have to live in this zombie-like state. It is totally possibleย  to live a powerful and meaningful life. The greatest joy you can ever have in life, is when Jesus is living in you and his love just wells up within and comes out in the most beautiful ways. Jesus is beautiful and makes you beautiful. He brings healing to the most intimate parts of your soul. That’s why it’s possible to be happy even in the worst circumstances (Believe me, I’ve almost tried it. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ).

With Jesus living within us, we still have “those moments”. We’re human and completely capable of feeling grumpy and sad all over again. Circumstances can be overwhelming and it’s okay to cry. The best way to overcome pain, sadness, boredom or whatever have you, is to remind ourselves of what is the most important thing in life:

We live inย  freedom from the bondage of sin and death; free to live in the deepest and clearest love imaginable – Jesus’ love. Continue reading “21 Ways to Stay Positive”

Survey: Music in the Modern Christian World

Hey y’all! I’ve organized a survey all about music in today’s Christian circles. As a passionate musician and Christian, I thought it’d be good to find out what music Christians are listening to, and how it affects them and their Church. It is open to anyone in any denomination or nondenominational, Conservative, Liberal, or “other”.

I’m hoping for at least 100 participants to make the survey more accurate, so please share with your friends and on social media! The more the merrier! ๐Ÿ™‚

I will be posting the results here on the blog (and linking on social media). So stay tuned! Continue reading “Survey: Music in the Modern Christian World”

A Letter From My Father

Dear child,

You are not alone. Sometimes it may feel that way, but I will always be there to forgive, comfort, and heal you. It breaks my heart to see your pain, but I can’t take it away until you give it up. As long as you hold onto your heart, your life will be out of control. If you trust your life to me, your life will become a beautiful work of love; woven perfectly by my hands.

I have seen your fear; your worry that you will miss open doors or open ones that aren’t meant for you. Leave that to me.ย  All the doors that aren’t for you, are firmly locked and bolted.ย  My timing is perfect. You will not accidentally mess up my will for you.

I give you the choice to hand the key of your heart to me. I promise to always protect and cherish you. In me, you will always find the love you long for. In me, there is always true peace and freedom.

With Love,

Your Heavenly Father
